Interactive Tour: From Dictatorship to Democracy

13 September 2019

Gevangenpoort Museum, The Hague

The path between dictatorship and democracy has many aspects, from government system reforms, to changes undertaken by individuals on the ground. This programme will highlight some of the steps taken by different actors in society when moving towards or away from democracy. It will highlight some of the challenges actors address and showcase the fragility of democracy.

The Netherlands Helsinki Committee, Justice and Peace, and Hague Talks Youth are teaming up to put together this year’s Night of Dictatorship Tour at the Gevangenpoort Museum. Come and listen to the stories of Albania’s transition in the post-Hoxha dictatorship. Learn about the work and experiences of a grassroots human rights defender from the Shelter City Network. Test your knowledge on dictatorship and democracies. Don’t miss your chance with these experiences and much more all while exploring a medieval prison!

During the Nacht van de Dictatuur – Den Haag, there will be three opportunities to take part in this interactive tour.

Check out the programme and book your tickets here.
